Eliminate stress when moving house
That exciting new job transfer, larger apartment in a fabulous area, or dream house purchase has one minor downside, moving out and transferring your entire life to the new location. Much of moving stress will be eliminated using simple guidelines to develop a plan that will lower anxiety and frustration.
De-cluttering is crucial. Before you begin to pack up, throw or give away items you don’t use or need. Go through each closet and storage area with a vengeance, if there’s no reason to keep it, get rid of it. Remember, it will mean more organization and less to pack. If possible, eat as much of the food in the refrigerator, cabinets and pantries as you can in the week preceding the move. Bottled drinks should be consumed also. These actions will definitely lighten the load.
Next is freeing up time to accomplish the move. Schedule days off from work, hire babysitters for young children, and minimize distractions so you can concentrate on the task. Recruit friends or family to help pack up and assist with the transfer process. Give plenty of notice about dates and times to incorporate into their schedules. Around the same time take care of as many administrative and bureaucratic details as you can, change mailing addresses, disconnect and arrange reconnection of utilities and all the other necessary changes.
Keep the basic tasks of packing, transporting your possessions and unpacking simple. Label all boxes to make unpacking straightforward. Arrange renting or borrowing a truck or van as far ahead of time as possible.
Whatever your method for moving house, remember to take deep breaths and stay enthusiastically focused on the benefits of the new location.
